part 3 Training

After passing your part 1 and 2 exams sucessfully you will then embark upon the training for the part 3 examination of instruction of ability.

Why can I not start part 3 training earlier?

Simply because we have to ensure that you have sufficient knowledge and the drive to the correct standard as required by the DSA. A driving instructor has to fully understand the specific driving techniques universally used.

Part 3 training with us is both theory and practical. Initially a trainee recieves a total of 40 hours which are recorded.

6 x 4 hour Theory sessions covering all aspects of the sylabus. As the information is intense it is preferred that these sessions are run over a 6 week period, however this can be taylored to suit. There is a vast amount of home study and work preparation to carry out.

16 Hours in car practical sessions carried out in both 2 and 3 hour blocks.

Throughout all ongoing training you will be expected to complete a personal development log where you can reflect on your driving. .

Trainee Licence

After completing the required 40 hours of training there is an option to apply for a trainee licence. This will allow you the opportunity to put into practice your training with real learner drivers, and take payment for lessons.

You are required to continue training a minimum of a further 20 hours has to be taken within the initial 12 weeks of the licence and details are submitted to the DSA.The licence cost is £125.00

Ongoing training

Although the DSA stipulate that a minimum number of 40 hours part 3 training (60 with trainee licence) many trainees are falsley led to believe that these are the only hours they will require to gain the qualification. Some individuals do however require over 100 hours. this should be taken into consideration.

There is no guaranteed pass and one cannot predict how many lessons a trainee will require to gain qualification.

Distance coaching

This course can be delivered nationally, however the trainee will need to travel at points throughout part 2 and 3 training and we will organise this with you.

Review and Monitor

We will work alongside you and will always be ready review assess and monitor drivers to ensure that safe satisfactory driving standards are maintained.
